In its simplest form, The Arcadia Project is a creative arts centre located in Sault Ste. Marie (ON), comprised of a coffeehouse, stores, studios, and a gallery. The following list tells us all about the delights that await us in Arcadia:

  • Formerly a Chinese Restaurant,  Dairy, Grocer – Arcadia was renovated from 2006 to 2008 and opened in 2008; learn more about Arcadia’s fascinating history.
  • Arcadia is currently home to the Coffeehouse, which hosts community events and concerts. Tuesday through Friday, Arcadia serves delicious vegetarian lunches in the Coffeehouse.
  • Japan Shop and Studio offers all manner of hip, chic, and cool gifts.
  • Visit whitespace gallery for art exhibits by emerging, established, local, and national artists.
  • Arcadia houses art and music studios. The Sault Potters’ Guild is currently in residence.

Arcadia . . . in the beginning.

In its more complex form, Arcadia is a community-based social sculpture/organism. The following list expands on the interworkings of the organism:

  • Community members involved with Arcadia are dedicated to fostering a healthy, vibrant space that emphasizes what Sault Ste. Marie has to offer through art, to artists, enriching Northern culture and lifestyle.
  • Arcadia goes GREEN! Where possible, the Coffeehouse is committed to offering organic, fair-trade goods. With few exceptions our takeout materials are completely biodegradeable and or compostable.
  • Want to participate? Stop by the Coffeehouse or drop an e-mail to express your enthusiasm for all things Arcadia.
